Mini Maternity Workshop

A portrait of my husband Matt & I with our soon-to-be little boy, who continues to remain nameless. lol. (We've really gotta' figure out something to call him soon.) This is one of my favorites from our session, taken by Melissa.
Many of you have asked me about how I will get my own maternity portraits taken, since I would have a difficult time doing them myself. Well, when you yourself are a photographer, the best thing to do is get together with a couple of other photographers and just make a day of it. This doubles as a mini workshop session. There's always room to grow and learn from your peers and this was a great time to do that. Luckily for me, Angela from Dezine Point Studio and Melissa from Life Unscripted Photography, were up for the challenge. Angela is also expecting and we had a lot of fun as our creative energy was flowing. Problem is, three photographers (two of which are preggos) trying new things and working on different lighting setups, makes for a very long day. Time flies when you're having fun, right? And boy did we lose track of time. My apologies to Angela and Melissa's husbands who were left to fend for themselves for dinner on Sunday night. Thanks again ladies, I really appreciate your help.

Here are a couple more images of my husband Matt and I taken by Angela.

This one of Angela is my favorite of the ones that I took so far. Isn't she cute?

Moo...

These cards are so much fun. I was anxious to get them, so I pulled some images quickly off of my computer and sent them in for printing. They are about 1 3/8 x 2 3/4 inches and they have a variety of uses. I love how much fun they are, and I will be ordering more soon. The best part is that they come in orders of 100 cards, but each card can have a different image on it.

You can have the back printed with multiple lines of text also. Sweet, right? Am I a dork to be so excited about new products? lol.

Gideon and Baby Steps Program

One of the things that I love about being a photographer is that I get to see so many of my clients' children as they grow. With the Baby Steps Program, that I offer in my studio, not only do new parents get to have keepsakes of their baby's first year, but I get to see them every few months also. Each time I see these clients, I cannot believe how much their little ones have changed. It is great to see them as they grow. Another great thing is when I can participate in this "project" with one of my own family members. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have seen Gideon as often as I do now if he wasn't a part of this program, and I'm so glad that is not the case. My cousin Gina and her husband have been bringing their son Gideon for portraits for the last six months and I love to see him. I think that this session was my favorite yet because as he grows, he is really starting to show off his personality. Check out those big blue eyes...SO precious!!

Audience Participation

Okay all, so as most of you know, Matt and I are expecting our little boy to arrive in just a couple of months and we have been preparing like crazy. Birthing classes are going well and giving us lots of things to think about. One thing that I've decided is that in order to help me to relax through the labor, I plan to have my ipod because music really helps to relax me. So today I have been working on a playlist of songs that might get my mind off of the pain and I would love suggestions from all of you. The way I see it, I'll probably be there for awhile, so the more the better. Now, I know that this isn't a photography post, but bear with me. I know that many of you reading this have just recently had children, so I figured, who better to ask advice from. Thanks so much. Can't wait to see your responses.
